R.N.L.I. Project

Nigel shot this dramatic image of the Sennen Cove Lifeboat crew being battered by rough seas just meters from Lands End...

SENNEN-2.jpg

Sennen Cove's Tyne class lifeboat is 14 meters long, carries a crew of six and is launched via a slipway. Weighing in at 25 tonnes, it has a top speed of 17 knots and is located around 1/2 mile from Lands End, which, if you look closely is just visible in the top left hand corner of the image...

Nigel recalls 'We launched around 10.30 into breaking surf, a rough sea, 30 knots of wind and horizontal rain. All of which made it difficult to stand, let alone keep the lens dry! This image was shot from the port side of the lifeboat whilst at sea on a joint training exercise with the Sennen Cove Inshore Lifeboat'.
